CAGE Code Lookup: How to Find a Company's CAGE Code and Get Your Own

A CAGE code (Commercial and Government Entity code) is a five-character ID for a business location that works with the U.S.

How do I look up a CAGE code by company name?

  1. Open SAM.gov and search Entity Information by company name, UEI or CAGE code.
  2. Or use the DLA CAGE search, which lists CAGE codes, addresses and status, including companies that are not currently registered on SAM.gov.
  3. Match the address, not just the name: one company can have several CAGE codes, one per location.

How do I get a CAGE code for my business?

Register your entity on SAM.gov.

What is in a CAGE record?

  • The five-character CAGE code and company name
  • The physical address of that location
  • Status (active, or flagged as obsolete or inactive)
  • Related codes, such as a parent company's CAGE

If your own record shows the wrong address or an inactive status, fix it through your SAM.gov registration before you quote, because DLA systems read the CAGE record.

How do suppliers use CAGE codes when bidding?

On DLA RFQs, approved sources are often listed by CAGE code and part number, so the CAGE tells you who has built the part before.

What is the difference between a CAGE code and a UEI?

The Unique Entity ID (UEI) is the 12-character identifier SAM.gov assigns to your entity.

How does FedOpp help with CAGE research?

FedOpp is government-opportunity research software that watches SAM.gov and DLA DIBBS and searches NSN, NIIN, FSC and CAGE data for small businesses; you bid on the official portals, and FedOpp costs.
