Supplier RFQ email template
A build-to-print quote request you can send to a manufacturer when you bid a DLA solicitation.
This is a build-to-print request: you are asking a manufacturer to make the part to the government drawing.
Subject: RFQ [solicitation number] - quote request for NSN [NSN] - [item name] Hello [supplier contact], We are preparing a quote on a DLA solicitation and would like your price and lead time to manufacture the part below to the government drawing. Solicitation: [solicitation number] NSN: [NSN] Item: [item name] Drawing / specification: [drawing or spec number and revision, from TDMT] Quantity: [quantity] [unit of issue] (please also quote [alternate quantity] if the price breaks) Required delivery: [delivery days] days after order Quality: [quality clauses cited in the RFQ, for example first article testing or inspection system requirement] Packaging and marking: [packaging requirement from the RFQ, for example MIL-STD-2073-1 codes or ASTM D3951; marking per MIL-STD-129] Please include in your quote: - Unit price and any setup or tooling charges - Lead time after receipt of order - Country of origin - Certificate of conformance and material certifications - Any exceptions to the drawing or requirements Our quote is due [date], so a reply by [your deadline] would help. Variations
- Approved source (source-controlled item): ask the approved manufacturer or its distributor to quote the exact approved part number, and ask for traceability to the manufacturer.
- Repack only: if you already have the item, ask a packager to quote the packaging and marking only, using the decoded packaging codes.
