How to read a SAM.gov notice
Read the type, the set-aside, the NAICS and the response date.
Sources Sought and Presolicitation are not a bid yet.
What to read first
- Type. Sources Sought, Presolicitation and Special Notice are posted before a solicitation exists.
- Set-aside. Who may bid. The codes FedOpp shows are listed in Set-aside codes.
- NAICS. The industry code. It sets the small-business size standard on the notice.
- Response date. The official deadline. Confirm it on SAM.gov.
In FedOpp
- Open the solicitation number, or Details, to open the drawer: the verdict, at a glance, how it fits, attachments and the contact office.
- The badge under the solicitation number is Pursue, Review, Skip or Incomplete.
- Click Pursue to track it.
- Do not quote from FedOpp.
A longer walk through each notice type, plus a one-page checklist, is on SAM.gov next steps.
Which FedOpp screen does this
The screen is SAM.gov. The drawer is where you read one notice.
FedOpp never submits bids.
